RECENT PROJECTS

Aberdeen Marine carry out a wide variety of projects from minor bridge inspections to major infrastructure installations / repairs.
Our recently completed works include:

Aird Mhor Walkways

As part of a multi-harbour repairs project for Western isles Council (Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar), Aberdeen Marine supplied and installed a number of fabricated and galvanised steel handrails to Aird Mhor Ferry Terminal walkways. Also included in this overall project were timber and tyre fender repairs to Vatersay Slipway and repairs to fenders at Berneray Ferry Terminal. Aberdeen Marine have now carried out a number of projects in the Western Islesc and while the weather and locations can sometimes be challenging our preparation and thoroughness ensure we completed these projects on time and budget, keeping this Client very happy.

Northumberland Energy Park

The main works here comprised the demolition and removal of a redundant jetty, requiring the careful slinging, cutting and removal of the old timber walkways, then subsea cutting of timber piles and finally burning and removal of the steel piles. Subsequent visits were also carried out to burn and remove sections of the steel sheet piled walls and also to carry out post works dive surveys for the Client.

BAE Scotstoun Deepwater Berth

Aberdeen Marine were contracted to provide the dredging, marine plant and dive teams to carry out the full range of works to remove a section of the existing 'sonar pits' and construct a full new 'sonar pit' between the existing structures. This large-scale project required multiple dive teams on site and a wide range of supporting equipment. The River Clyde can be a challenging environment due to the continual silt ingress to the working areas, requiring a full-time pump to remove this. A large steel shutter was designed and installed to assist with the positioning of the new pre-castconcrete bloks and this was cut up subsea and removed once the blocks were in their final positions.

Kilchoan Ferry Terminal Concrete Repairs

Kilchoan is an active ferry terminal that had suffered from a number of voids below the structure and some concrete damage / spalling below the main deck. A range of repairs were carried out to various areas of and around the strucure, using a variety of different repair materials. Scaffolding was required to access the repairs below the deck soffit and as this was in a tidal zone regular inspections and modifications to this were necessary.

Babcock Rosyth

Aberdeen Marine have been involved in works at Babcock Rosyth for over two years now, taking over as encumbent supplier of dive teams from a previous company. Recent works have included a range of diving projects on the Prince of Wales Aircraft Carrier, along with a large number of infrastructure works, repairs and installations on the base itself.
AM are often called out at short notice to provide diving assistance and have diving equipment dedicated to support this important Clients varying and sometimes challenging requirements.

Perth Harbour Berth 3 Repairs

This project comprised a wide range of operations to repair a number of defects and install new equipment at Berth 3, Perth Harbour.
Works included weld repairs to the steel sheet piled wall, supply and installation of new support steelwork to an existing outfall pipe, supply and installation of a number of new flap valves, supply and installation of a new drainage chamber valve and repairs to a number of areas of the harbour deck, including supply and installation of new manhole covers and reprofiling of the deck.
